Setting Boundaries, Open Source, & Gamedev on Consoles

This is going to be a long, complicated post that's long overdue. A table of contents:

Context: Over the course of several years, I helped build a set of backends to make Openfl work on home consoles. And the project was a success! I shipped Defender's Quest on three platforms! They even got good reviews and a physical release from Limited Run Games! But it also took a lot out of me and I bit off more than I can chew.
